Product Overview

Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂) is a highly soluble, white to off-white inorganic salt supplied by Pritech Chemical from our Weifang production base. It is available as hexahydrate (MgCl₂·6H₂O) in flake and pellet form, and anhydrous (MgCl₂) in powder and granule form.

Applications

De-icing & Snow Melting

Highly effective as a road de-icer and anti-icing agent. Magnesium Chloride works at lower temperatures than rock salt (effective down to -28°C / -18°F), with less corrosion to concrete and vegetation. Widely used for highway, airport runway and parking lot maintenance.

Dust Control

Applied as a dust suppressant on unpaved roads, construction sites and mining haul roads. Hygroscopic properties attract moisture from air to keep road surfaces damp and reduce airborne particulates.

Concrete Acceleration

Used as an accelerating admixture in ready-mix concrete and shotcrete applications. Promotes early strength development in cold weather concreting (note: not recommended for prestressed concrete).

Animal Feed Supplement

Feed-grade Magnesium Chloride provides essential magnesium for livestock, preventing grass tetany and supporting enzyme function, nerve transmission and bone development in cattle and sheep.

Industrial & Metallurgy

Raw material for producing magnesium metal (via electrolysis or Pidgeon process), magnesium oxide, and flame-retardant materials. Also used in paper pulping, textile finishing and wastewater treatment.

Storage

Store in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Reseal bags tightly after opening. Magnesium Chloride is highly hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture rapidly from air and may deliquesce (liquefy) if exposed. Keep away from strong oxidizers and alkaline materials. Shelf life: 12 months under proper storage conditions.
